Bayer Leverkusen were the better side, but they had to settle for one point after 90 minutes
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface scored the equaliser for Bayer Leverkusen in their hard-fought 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund at BayArena, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface led the line for Die Werkself when they welcomed Dortmund in their Bundesliga fixture at BayArena on Sunday. Both clubs have been in great form this season, but Leverkusen were the slight favourites.
Die Werkself dominated the fixture from the start, but Dortmund got an early goal via Julian Ryerson in the 6th minute. From then, Bayer Leverkusen started piling the pressure on the Black and Yellows.
Boniface had an active evening as usual, dropping deep to get involved with the play. He had 49 touches, three dribbles, and two tackles for Leverkusen.
Die Werkself dominated the game, but they had nothing to show for it until the 79th minute. Patrik Schick, who was introduced just seconds before, linked up well with Boniface as he sprayed a cross to the Nigerian striker, who was lurking in the box. Boniface simply tapped the ball into an empty net to draw level for Bayer Leverkusen.
Eventually, Boniface’s efforts could only help Bayer Leverkusen get a 1-1 draw. The result ensures that Die Werkself remain at the top of the Bundesliga table, pending the result of Bayern Munich’s game.
