Sporting Lagos and Remo Stars target gets South Sudan call-up for World Cup qualifiers

Joseph Loro was impressive for the South Sudan U-20 side during the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Egypt.

South Sudan U-20 captain, Joseph Loro, has been granted a call-up by the South Sudan Football Association for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 19-year-old midfielder was at the center of a transfer saga during the 2023 summer window, attracting interest from newly promoted NPFL side Sporting Lagos and Remo Stars.

Despite the transfer speculations, Loro has received the nod from his country’s football association to join the senior national team for clashes against Senegal and Mauritania.

The request letter from South Sudan expressed appreciation for the player’s potential participation and emphasized the nation’s gratitude for continuous support.

Part of the request letter from South Sudan reads: “We shall appreciate your kind office to allow the participation of the player [Joseph Loro] during these international sessions.

“SSA appreciates your continues support, in particular and we’re looking forward for your consideration towards this request.”

Loro, who currently plays for Ojodu FC in Lagos, opted for the club after a failed transfer move to any of the South West clubs.

The midfielder aims to showcase his talent on the international stage, and Ojodu FC will release him to represent South Sudan in the upcoming qualifiers.
