La Liga side Las Palmas are reportedly making a push to secure Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho on loan for the remainder of the season, as they seek reinforcements to bolster their attacking options, Soccernet.ng reports.
Since Diego Martínez’s arrival, Las Palmas have seen a marked improvement in their form, climbing out of the relegation zone into a more comfortable position in the league table.
However, the club’s management is determined to resolve lingering squad issues by signing a reliable striker high on the agenda, and Nigeria international has been labelled a priority for the 14th-placed La Liga side.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla in the summer on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City but has struggled to find his footing under head coach García Pimienta. The Super Eagles attacker has yet to make a significant impact, with limited minutes and no goals in La Liga.
Sevilla are eager to restructure their squad, and are looking to offload Iheanacho to free up space and financial resources to sign a new striker. This has opened the door for Las Palmas, who are keen to bring the 27-year-old on board.
According to reports from Todofichajes, Las Palmas have already approached Sevilla with a loan proposal for Iheanacho, which would see the forward move to Gran Canaria until the end of the season.
While the Yellows have yet to receive a response, it is suggested to pick the interest of Sevilla for the Nigerian as they look to bolster their squad with a consistent goal poacher.
This move comes after other striker targets, including his countryman Umar Sadiq, have reportedly fallen out of favour with Las Palmas’ sporting director, Luis Helguera.
As a result, the club has turned its attention to Iheanacho, hoping the Nigerian can provide the goals they need to maintain their steady climb up the table.
For Iheanacho, a loan move to Las Palmas could offer a chance to revive his form and confidence in a new environment.
With Sevilla seeking to trim their squad and Las Palmas in need of attacking reinforcements, the deal could benefit both parties.
