“Saudi can wait” – Mikel Obi urges Victor Osimhen to snub Saudi offer and move to Chelsea

Victor Osimhen was nominated for the Ballon d’Or, the FIFA Best Award, and the CAF Player of the Year award after a stellar season in Italy.

2013 AFCON-winning midfielder with the Super Eagles, John Obi Mikel, has urged Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, to delay his move to Saudi and spend some time in Chelsea, Soccernet.ng reports.

Mikel spent eleven years at Chelsea, winning several trophies including the UEFA Champions and Europa League, and has aired his opinion on his former club’s need for a new Drogba.

For the 36-year-old, Victor Osimhen is the perfect player to fill that role, as he possesses all the qualities the Ivorian did during his playing days, and is still young.

Speaking on the Obi One podcast, Mikel revealed his excitement to Osimhen, even mentioning he’d broker the deal as an agent if he’s given the chance.

“I know you’re going to come to Chelsea. I’m telling you, I’m going to be the agent to broker that deal! You are 100 per cent going to Chelsea next season,” the former Chelsea defensive midfielder told Osimhen.

The AFCON winner mentioned how Chelsea are in dire need of last season’s Capocannoniere Award winner.

“I’m going to make sure that deal happens because we are crying out for someone like you. Since the big man left the club, you know Didier Drogba, my teammate, we haven’t had anybody with that figure, that stature, that personality.”

Al-Hilal made a bid for Osimhen last summer, and the 24-year-old admitted to considering the offer, but Mikel advised the Napoli forward to hold on and make a move to Chelsea.

“We’re crying out for someone who will get us goals and I think that’s what you will give us. So Saudi can wait. Give us two or three years at Chelsea or four years and then maybe Saudi can happen,” Mikel added.

Osimhen has been out with an injury that has kept him out of action for the past two weeks and will miss the Super Eagle’s upcoming games during the International break.
