Victor Osimhen’s market value further cements after he finished eighth in the recently concluded 2023 Ballon d’Or award ceremony
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered the latest update on Victor Osimhen’s situation at Napoli, Soccernet.ng reports.
Romano suggested that the Super Eagles’ standout is unlikely to commit to a new contract at Napoli amidst interest from prominent European clubs, particularly two London-based sides, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Recent issues revolving around the Napoli-TikTok saga and the prolonged contract negotiations, essential for extending his stay in Naples, raise concerns about his potential departure.
The Nigerian international’s current deal with the Gli Azzurri is set to expire in June 2025, and Napoli risks losing the Nigerian in January or the next summer.
Speaking on the Kick streaming platform, Romano confirmed that the Napoli forward hasn’t finalized any agreement with the 2023 Serie A champions and won’t be extending his contract with the club.
“For Victor Osimhen, it’s essential to clarify, as I’ve consistently mentioned since September, there’s no agreement between Napoli and Osimhen for a new contract,” Romano stated. “He’s only contracted until June 2025, and my sources are quite clear – Osimhen isn’t inclined to sign a new deal at Napoli. That’s the current status as of today. Football is unpredictable, but the current stance appears firm – Osimhen won’t be renewing there.”
Osimhen recently made a comeback to Napoli’s squad after recovering from an injury sustained during Nigeria’s match against Saudi Arabia.
