Rema’s ‘Calm down’ was performed at the 2023 Ballon d’Or award with football stars like Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Erling Harland, Kylian Mbappe and others in attendance

Former Super Eagles star, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed his joy at seeing young Nigerian artiste, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, perform at the 2023 Ballon d’Or awards, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a previous report, the Dumebi crooner took his yearly achievements even further by gracing the Ballon d’Or stage with his captivating performance, alongside football legends and stars in attendance.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Ajax midfielder took to his social media platform to share his delight at witnessing a fellow Nigerian shine on such a prestigious stage.

Oliseh also recalled the moment when Rema’s hit song “Calm Down” was played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar, and how it set the fans dancing in a frenzy.

“I am eternally proud of being Nigerian. Every time this song was played in the stadium during the Qatar 2022 World Cup, people went CRAZYYYYY. [I] Love this great song,” he wrote on his social media feed.

Rema’s “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez has amassed billions of streams and found its way into football clubs’ videos, stadium playlists, and even the dance routines of football stars.

As a Nigerian artist, Rema joins the ranks of Davido, Wizkid, and Burnaboy as a global ambassador for Afrobeat music, proudly representing Nigeria on the international stage.
