Onome Ebi calms frustrated Nigerian fan, calls for support

The Super Eagles of Nigeria secure two disappointing draws in their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup clash against Lesotho and Zimbabwe

Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, has responded to a frustrated Nigerian football fan’s call for improvement from the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.

Amid criticism after their back-to-back draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Nigerian international Onome Ebi defended the Super Eagles, urging support for the team amidst recent backlash directed at both players and the manager, Jose Peseiro.

The Super Eagles, garnering just two points from their 1-1 draws, currently stand third in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers Group C table.

This outcome triggered a wave of criticism and prompted apologies, including one from FC Nantes forward Simon Moses.

A news which was previously reported by Soccernet.ng yesterday, and sparked many reactions in the social media platform, among which a football fan called for improvement.

“Tell them to improve, that’s what we want, nothing more than that. Let them leave if they are tired. Are they not professionals? Or are they playing for free?” The fan wrote

In response to the fan’s plea for improvement, Ebi assured that the squad would enhance their performance, emphasizing the importance of Nigerian fans’ backing.

“They will, that’s why they need our support and encouragement” she wrote.

As the Super Eagles gear up to face Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Guinea Bissau in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament starting in January 2024, hopes are high that they will uphold their mantra ‘let’s do it again’ and secure their fourth AFCON trophy, aiming to bring joy to Nigerian fans once more.
