Napoli get massive injury boost as Osimhen sets sight on team return

Victor Osimhen was ranked 8th in last season’s Ballon d’Or rankings and has been nominated for CAF and FIFA Player of the Year awards.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is set to return to action in club football next weekend as Napoli travel to Bergamo to face Atalanta, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old picked up a hamstring injury to his right thigh last month during International duty with the Super Eagles and has been out of action since then.

The Napoli forward has been focused on returning to the pitch and is making sure he is completely match-fit before returning to avoid a relapse of the injury.

According to Tutto Napoli, the Nigerian forward could be included in Napoli’s squad to travel to Bergamo for their away game against Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta.

In reports revealed by the outlet, Osimhen had a conversation with the newly appointed manager, Walter Mazzarri after the hierarchy of the club dismissed Rudi Garcia.

The conversation seemed to have regenerated the ex-Lille man, who currently has the flu, but that shouldn’t be able to keep him out of next weekend’s clash, all things being equal.

Meanwhile, in the National team, his absence was heavily felt as the Super Eagles couldn’t get a win against Lesotho on home soil in the FIFA World Cup qualifying tie.

Osimhen scored twenty-six goals for Napoli in the league last season and has scored six for them so far this term.
