“He’s got what Drogba had” – AFCON winning Super Eagle tells Osimhen to move to Chelsea

Osimhen finished in the 8th position in the Ballon d’Or rankings, becoming the first ever Nigerian to do so, and the first in the top twenty since Kanu.

AFCON-winning Super Eagle, John Mikel Obi, has encouraged Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen to move to Chelsea at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Mikel won the African Cup of Nations tournament with Nigeria in 2013, coming off the back of UEFA Champions League success with Chelsea in 2012, and has been full of praise for Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen scored the most goals in the Italian Serie A last season, carting away the golden boot award, and handing Napoli their first Scudetto in over three decades.

Mikel, for most of his career, was known for donning the proud colours of Chelsea, but their form has been plummetting in recent times.

The former Super Eagles captain mentioned that his country-man, Osimhen, could be the man to revive Mauricio Pochetinno’s side, and even likened the 24-year-old striker to his former teammate, Didier Drogba.

“He’s got the personality and the arrogance. When he walks, you can tell someone just walked into the room, and that’s what Didier had. I think he’s pretty close to what Didier was and my advice for him would be to come to Chelsea,” Mikel said on the Obi One podcast.

Osimhen has been unable to feature for Rudi Garcia’s side after picking up an injury during the last International Break.
