Ronaldo is arguably the greatest to grace the football pitch, and he has been a source of inspiration for many players
Super Eagles striker Godwin Saviour has expressed joy after playing against Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Arabian Pro League game between Al Nassr and Al Akhdoud, Soccernet.ng reports.
Saviour left Portugal Liga side Casa Pia for Saudi side Al Akhdoud in the summer, and he has become an integral part of the team. The 27-year-old has made nine appearances for the club since he arrived and has two goals to his name.
He was on the starting lineup for Al Akhdoud when they took on Al Nassr at Al Awwal Park. Saviour played the entire 90 minutes for his side, with 24 touches and two goal attempts.
However, Saviour failed to have a meaningful impact, as they fell to a 3-0 loss to Al Nassr courtesy of goals from Sami Al Naji and former Manchester United star Ronaldo.
Despite the loss, Saviour was in high spirits after the game. He took to Instagram to express his excitement at playing against Ronaldo.
“Gutted not to come back home with a win, but also great feeling to play alongside my role model,” Saviour wrote.
Following the result, Al Akhdoud are 16th on the Saudi Arabian Pro League table with ten points.
