Osimhen sustained a muscle injury during the last international break, but Napoli would hope that he returns to action quickly
Former Napoli team doctor Alfonso De Nicola has warned the Serie A champions to handle Victor Osimhen’s injury with caution to avoid a relapse, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen sustained a muscle injury while on international duty with Nigeria in their friendly game against Saudi Arabia. Following this development, he was ruled out of action for 40 days.
It is not the first time that the 24-year-old has sustained a muscle injury, as he had a similar injury last season. The Nigerian striker is expected to return to action after the next international break. But ahead of Osimhen’s return, former Napoli doctor De Nicola has warned Rudi Garcia to manage his game time to prevent a relapse.
“Napoli can do very little about Osimhen’s injury other than making the affected muscle as elastic as possible and healing it as best as possible,” De Nicola said per Napoli Magazine.
“Then the coach will have to do a lot in managing the playing time and only deploying him when the player is 100% recovered.”
Despite Osimhen’s injury, Napoli have been in great form, winning three of their last four games. Nonetheless, coach Garcia would hope that his talisman is back soon.
