Three goals in four matches: Can Houston’s Alozie shine in Super Falcons’ attack?

Michelle Alozie recently notched a brace for Houston Dash against Gotham FC which marks her third goal in four matches

Super Falcons defender, Michelle Alozie, has been in sensational form since her return from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Her impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and questions are arising about her potential role in the Super Falcons’ attack.

Alozie was a standout star in Randy Waldrum’s squad at the World Cup, excelling in both defensive duties and making incisive runs through opponents’ defenses, establishing herself as a threat on the field.

In a recent match against Gotham Women FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Alozie played a crucial role in Houston Dash’s 2-0 victory.

Her contribution made it three goals in just four appearances, revealing a newfound goal-scoring ability that could be a valuable addition to the Super Falcons’ already formidable team.

During the Women’s World Cup, the Super Falcons displayed an outstanding performance, remaining unbeaten in the group stage and even taking England’s Lionesses to a penalty shootout, showcasing their potential.

However, goal-scoring was an area that required improvement for the ladies, particularly with an unfit Asisat Oshoala not performing at her best.

Alozie’s ability to break through defenses with her pace and contribute goals presents an intriguing option for American tactician, Waldrum.

As the Super Falcons prepare to kick-start their Olympic qualification campaign against Ethiopia, experimenting with Alozie in a more advanced role could unlock her hidden potential and provide a new dimension to the team’s attack.
