Super Eagles hopeful reveals coach Peseiro has not reached out despite outshining all but PSG’s Mbappe

The former Nigerian youth international has his eyes set on joining the squad for the continental championship

Montpellier forward Akor Jerome Adams has revealed that he has had zero contact with the handlers of the Nigerian national men’s team despite his excellent start to life in France, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams scored twice at the weekend to inspire Montpellier to a 3-0 victory over Toulouse at the Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98.

That excellent brace took Adams’s tally to seven Ligue 1 goals in only nine games, making him the highest-scoring Nigerian in the French top flight.

Only PSG’s Kylian Mbappe (ten) has scored more goals than Adams, who only arrived in France from Norway in the summer for less than five million euros.

Still, there is no room for the 23-year-old striker in the Super Eagles squad as head coach Jose Peseiro preferred Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Umar Sadiq during Nigeria’s last international engagements.

The Super Eagles will reconvene later in November for two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but Adams will likely not be in the squad as he laments that no one has reached out to him.

The Montpellier forward has vowed to continue to give his best for the French side until his fortune with the Eagles changes.

When asked after the Toulouse tie if he had been invited to the national team, Adams said:

“For the moment, I remain focused on my performances with Montpellier; I have no contact with the selection.”

For his goals against Toulouse, Adams has given credit to his teammates who gave him two excellent passes.

Téji Savanier lofted a delicious pass to Adams, which he controlled brilliantly with his left before firing across goalkeeper Restes with his right to hand Montpellier the lead in the 13th minute.

Joris Chotard then repeated a similar move midway through the second half, allowing Adams to race on to slot beneath the goalkeeper for the last goal of the match.

Adams said: “I salute the performance of the collective, the decisive passers; I did not achieve this double alone, nor the previous ones. Joris Chotard and Téji Savanier in particular.

“This is a very important victory for us. This week, we continued to work as a family; we stayed focused on the collective, and we didn’t look at what was happening around us. This is what explains the victory.”

Adams could face his toughest challenge in France next weekend when Montpellier make the trip to Paris to face champions PSG.
