Osimhen is yet to sign an extension at Napoli, but De Laurentiis is indifferent about the situation
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is angry at Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis following his comments on his contract situation, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has been one of the best players at Napoli for the past two seasons. His goals have helped push Napoli to their first Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
Also, last season, he also registered five goals in the UEFA Champions League to help them to their first quarterfinal finish in the competition.
Following Osimhen’s consistent brilliance Napoli have been trying to tie him down to a contract extension as he has just over 18 months left on his current deal.
If he fails to put pen to paper on a new deal, Napoli may be forced to sell him at the end of the season. However the club president is at ease about the issue as he confident that he can still sell Osimhen despite the disadvantageous position that the club would be in.
In a related development per GFNI Osimhen and his agent Roberto Calenda are not happy with De Laurentiis’ statements, and “they are deciding on a future away from Naples.”
As the talks linger on, Osimhen’s renewal continues to be in doubt. However, his suitors would be monitoring the situation and look to pounce next summer.
