“Don’t worry”–Victor Boniface reveals what Xabi Alonso told him after Leverkusen’s draw against Bayern Munich

Victor Boniface moved to join Bayer Leverkusen from Union SG during the summer transfer window

Nigerian sensation, Victor Boniface, has shared an uplifting conversation with his manager, Xabi Alonso, following Bayer Leverkusen’s encounter with Bayern Munich,Soccernet.ng reports.

On matchday four of the German Bundesliga, Alonso’s side traveled to Munich for a clash with the formidable Bundesliga giants, which ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw.

Despite his best efforts, Boniface couldn’t find the back of the net during the match, after also establishing himself in the Super Eagles’ game against Sao Tome and Principe.

In the aftermath of the Bayern Munich showdown, Boniface revealed that Alonso offered him words of encouragement, advising him not to worry and assuring him that the goals would come.

“Don’t worry, the goals will come,” Boniface quoted Alonso during a Q&A video shared by UEFA.

Boniface’s performance subsequently reflected Alonso’s words of encouragement, as the Nigerian striker went on to score three goals in two matches – a brace against Heidenheim and another against Hacken.

With six goals in six domestic league matches, the 22-year-old has adapted swiftly under Alonso’s guidance.

Having previously earned recognition as the player of the month and rookie award recipient when he joined the club, Boniface is well on his way to achieving even more remarkable feats.
