Victor Boniface beats Leipzig’s Xavi, Freiburg’s Atubolu to new award

Victor Boniface who recently joined Bayer Leverkusen from Belgium’s Union SG has been firing on all cylinders.

Super Eagles newcomer and Bayer Leverkusen, Victor Boniface, has earned the prestigious Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award, Soccernet.ng reports.

The award recognizes his remarkable performance in his debut month at Bayer Leverkusen, where he recently sealed a €20 million transfer deal from Union SG.

At just 22 years old, Boniface has taken the Bundesliga by storm, establishing himself as a formidable striker by amassing an impressive record of four goals and two assists in the current season.

The 2022-23 UEFA Europa League top scorer faced stiff competition from his peers, including RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simmons and SC Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu, but emerged as the standout player for the award.

This talented young striker’s rapid rise has not only thrilled fans but also garnered attention from football community as he has seamlessly integrated into Bayer Leverkusen’s squad, becoming a vital asset and a promising prospect for the Super Eagles.

In addition to the Rookie of the Month award,  Boniface has been nominated for the esteemed Bundesliga Player of the Month award which solidified his standing in the eyes of Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso.

Boniface, who is currently gearing up with the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be looking to make his mark when Jose Peseiro’s men tackle São Tomé and Principe.
