Reports–Genk in talks with Southampton over late transfer for Paul Onuachu

Nigerian attacker, Paul Onuachu, made a move to Southampton from KRC Genk during the January transfer window

Belgian club, KRC Genk, is currently in discussions with Southampton regarding a potential late transfer deal for Super Eagles star, Paul Onuachu, Soccernet.ng reports.

The towering Nigerian forward has been the subject of transfer speculation, with a potential return to Belgium on the horizon.

This comes after a challenging stint in the English League, marked by Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League to the second tier.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has brought attention to Genk’s interest in acquiring Onuachu before the transfer window closes.

The possibility of the Nigerian striker rejoining his former club on loan has been a topic of discussion, with his manager confirming ongoing communication.

However, a permanent move remains uncertain due to the £18 million transfer fee associated with Onuachu.

As the transfer deadline day unfolds, there is potential for negotiations between the two clubs to reach an agreement.

The outcome of these talks will determine whether Onuachu will make a return to Belgium or continue his football journey elsewhere. And football Nigerian football community are closely watching this late transfer saga, eager to see where the talented striker will land as the window draws to a close.
