PSG legend Okocha happy to see Bayer Leverkusen striker Boniface join Osimhen, Awoniyi in Super Eagles

The legendary playmaker is aware of the brilliance of several Nigerian youngsters in Europe’s top leagues

Former Nigeria international Austin Okocha cannot wait to see Victor Boniface replicate his impact in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen for the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has enjoyed an amazing start to life in the German top flight, arriving from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer.

The 22-year-old forward has already smashed in six Bundesliga goals and is one of the reasons Bayer Leverkusen are joint-top of the league with Bayern Munich.

Boniface’s impact in Germany mirrors the excellent showings of Victor Osimhen in the Italian Serie A, Taiwo Awoniyi in the English Premier League, Terem Moffi in the French Ligue 1, and Gift Orban in the Belgian First Division A, among others.

Okocha believes such an abundance of attacking talents bodes well for the Nigerian national team while expressing hopes that the Super Eagles handlers translate it to international success.

“He’s [Boniface] been amazing. It’s always great to see one of our own doing well,” Okocha told LiveScore.

“He gives us hope. It shows we are not short of talent. We [Nigeria] just need to get our act together!

“It is an exciting time for Nigerian football, and the good thing is their ages; some of them haven’t even hit their prime yet.

“It’s now about finding a way to getting the best out of them when they come to play for Nigeria.”

Boniface will look to increase his impressive haul in the Bundesliga when Bayer Leverkusen trade tackles with Mainz at the MEWA ARENA on Saturday.
