Osimhen proves his ability again with brilliant performance in mauling of Lecce

The Super Eagles striker broke his barren run last time out, and he has continued with his brilliant performances

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored the second goal for Napoli in their 4-0 destruction of Lecce at Stadio Via del Mare, Soccernet reports.

Osimhen has been caught up in a controversy with Napoli after the club posted a video to mock him for missing a penalty in their goalless draw at Bologna last week.

However, he played in the next game against Udinese and scored in their 4-1 victory.

The Serie A champions returned to action in a tie at Lecce. This time, Osimhen started from the bench while Giovanni Simeone was on the bench.

The Partenopeans dominated the early exchanges, and they eventually got the lead via a header from Leo Ostigard in the 16th minute.

Napoli saw out the lead until the break. And then, Osimhen was introduced at half-time. The 24-year-old Nigerian striker did not need much time to make his presence felt. Napoli went on a quick attack, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia running the show. Then, he sent a cross into the box where Osimhen was lurking. The big hitman made no mistake from close range, as he jumped higher than his market and sent a header into the net to make it 2-0.

Gianluca Gaetano scored the third for Napoli in the 88th minute, while Matteo Politano scored the fourth from the spot in stoppage time.

Following his strike, Osimhen now has five goals in the Serie A this season.
