Napoli TikTok saga: Top five clubs previously vying to sign Osimhen

Following the viral TikTok video mocking Nigerian star Victor Osimhen for missing a crucial penalty in their match against Bologna, Napoli finds themselves in a challenging situation.

This has raised speculations in the football community that Osimhen might leave in the January transfer window after he reacted by deleting all images of himself in a Napoli jersey.

Before this incident, Osimhen had been linked with a big move away from the Diego Maradona stadium. Several clubs were interested in him, but they couldn’t meet his demands.

Here are some of the clubs that were previously linked with Osimhen:

1. Manchester United:

The Red Devils pursued Osimhen since the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo before the 2022 World Cup. However, talks broke down when Napoli demanded €150 million for the Nigerian striker.

2. Chelsea FC:

Chelsea has been searching for a Didier Drogba-like figure in their attack. Osimhen, who names Drogba as his idol, was linked to Chelsea. After the TikTok incident, Chelsea is reportedly monitoring the situation.

3. Bayern Munich:

The German giants were close to securing Osimhen’s signature in January, offering around €100 million. However, they turned to Harry Kane when Napoli proved challenging.

4. Paris Saint-Germain:

PSG was ready to sign Osimhen to replace departing stars like Neymar and Messi, offering €130 million. However, Osimhen seemed more focused on playing in the Premier League.

5. Al Hilal:

Al Hilal met Osimhen’s asking price and agreed to his salary demands. However, Napoli’s high demands led to the deal falling through, and Al Hilal signed Neymar instead.
