Iheanacho and Ndidi’s goals nominated for Leicester City’s goal of the month award

Super Eagles and Leicester City duo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi’s goals were included in the Goal of the Month award nomination.

Super Eagles duo, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have been nominated for Leicester City’s Goal of the Month award after both players scored stunning goals during the month of August, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leicester have played five Sky Bet Championship games so far, winning four and losing just one, and that sees them sit third in the Championship with twelve points, just behind Ipswich Town and Preston North End.

Eight goals were nominated for Leicester City’s Goal of the Month award for August 2023, with goals from the first team, and the youth team included in the nominations.

Wilfred Ndidi’s goal against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup first round was nominated. The goal was created by fellow countryman, Kelechi Iheanacho, as he sped with the ball on the left wing before sending a low cross toward Ndidi, who sent his shot into the top corner.

Iheanacho’s opener Burton Albion was also nominated, with Ndidi involved in the build-up. Some neat play in the midfield saw Marc Albrighton on the edge of the box, and he crossed the ball to Iheanacho, whose silky backheel left the goalkeeper stranded. He also got the Man of the Match award in that game.

Other nominees for the Goal of the Month award are; Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (vs. Coventry City), Stephy Mavididi (vs. Huddersfield Town), Amani Richards (vs. Derby County U21s), Zach Booth (vs. Derby U21s), Wanya Marçal (vs. Cardiff City) and Kasey McAteer (vs. Rotherham United).

Iheanacho and Ndidi have been in superb form, following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier league top flight. The duo were linked with an exit from the King Power Stadium, but the transfer window closed and the Nigerians remained at the club.
