Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface joins Bayern Munich, Stuttgart stars in TOTW

The Nigeria international continued his excellent start to life in Germany at the weekend to propel his side to another fine home win

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface had been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Week following his brilliant display against Heidenheim on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has consistently featured in the best eleven ratings in the German top flight since he arrived at Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer.

The 22-year-old delivered another impressive showing for Xabi Alonso’s men at the BayerArena as they shot down newly-promoted Heidenheim.

Boniface scored twice – one in each half – as the Werkself soared to a 4-1 win.

The Super Eagles forward opened the scoring for the home team in the ninth minute after he received a pass on the edge of the box before turning his marker and slotting into the net with expertise.

The former Bodo/Glimt ace then completed his brace from the penalty spot midway through the second period.

And for his troubles, Whoscored gave Boniface a 9.05 rating – the fourth best in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

In the Team of the Week, the Nigerian forward leads the attack line alongside Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy.

After Bayern Munich’s huge 7-0 win over VfL Bochum, it is no surprise to see six other Bavarian stars join Kane in the exclusive list.

Min Jae Kim, Matthijs de Ligt, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Joshua Kimmich are all included.

Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate Exequiel Palacios also made the Team of the Week.
