Ademola Lookman praises ‘intelligent’ Belgian star after Atalanta’s victory

Ademola Lookman has been on impressive form for the Black and Blues, having established himself as formidable attacker, following his poor form at the tail end of the 2022-23 season campaign

Atalanta and Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has heaped praise on Belgian midfielder, Charles De Ketelaere, following their victory against Cagliari, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former AC Milan player continued his impressive form, this time providing an assist that led to Lookman’s second goal of the Serie A season.

De Ketelaere intercepted a ball from midfield and delivered a precise cross to the Nigerian international, who slotted it into an empty net, giving Gian Piero Gasperini’s side the lead in the 33rd minute.

After the game, Lookman had nothing but compliments for the 22-year-old midfielder who provided him with a perfect pass, as well as his team for securing all three points.

De Ketelaere and Lookman had previously exchanged passes that could have extended Atalanta’s lead against the Islanders, but their efforts went unrewarded.

Having secured the victory at the Gewiss Stadium, Lookman singled out De Ketelaere, who joined Atalanta on loan from AC Milan, for praise.

“He’s a very intelligent player; it’s a pleasure to play with him. We have a great team, and we enjoy playing with everyone,” Lookman said, as quoted by Sports Face.

Atalanta boss, Gian Piero Gasperini, also lauded the Belgian’s brilliance after the game.

Gasperini said, as quoted by gianlucadimarzio: “De Ketelaere played a really great first half. Very few errors, quality and lucidity, a reference for the attacking game. The assist on the goal was also of value.”

Atalanta will face Verona away from the Gewiss Stadium on Wednesday, aiming to close the gap on the top four, with just one point behind Juventus, who currently occupies 4th place in the Serie A standings.
