The free-scoring Nigerian striker has been heavily linked with a move to North London this summer, but the transfer seems highly unlikely
Nigerian striker Gift Orban is unlikely to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer as the club is seriously interested in signing Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson, Soccernet reports.
Spurs lost legendary striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich this summer in a deal worth over €100million. However, they have failed to replace him.
Realistically, only free strikers can carry Tottenham the way Kane did. However, to cushion the loss, Tottenham have to sign a striker this summer as Richalison has not exactly inspired much confidence.
Earlier, Soccernet reported that Spurs were interested in signing Orban from Gent. However, the deal has not progressed much, as there are reports that the Belgian side are demanding a fee north of €30million.
Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs are seriously interested in signing Brennan Johnson this summer. The 22-year-old attacker is versatile and quick on the ball, and those qualities appeal to coach Ange Postecoglou.
Johnson would cost Tottenham €40million at least, and the fee could even go higher, as Brentford have shown keen interest in the Englishman.
If they fail to sign the 22-year-old, Sky Sports reports that Tottenham’s other options are Ansu Fati and Johan Bakayoko from PSV.
From all recent transfer reports from England, Tottenham do not have Orban in their plans this summer, and with just three days left before the transfer window closes, it is unlikely that Spurs will sign him.
Nonetheless, the Super Eagles prospect would look to keep up his great goalscoring record for Gent. Orban has registered six goals in seven games for the Buffalos this season, and he doesn’t look like he will slow down.

I can see that Spurs will end up with no incomings at all. Levy has to put money available. I am becoming to hate this man.
