Napoli have gotten the 25-year-old to extend his deal till 2027, but he is set to leave on a season-long loan
Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Michael Folorunsho is set to leave Napoli for Hellas Verona on a season-long loan this summer, Soccernet reports.
Folorunsho spent last season on loan at Sere B side Bari, and he impressed, registering eight goals and two assists in 30 Serie B appearances. The versatile 25-year-old proved to be quite clinical in front of goal, and was a tireless worker in the middle of the park. One of Folorunsho’s attributes is also his ability to switch positions in midfield seamlessly.
After his impressive showing, Napoli refused to let him leave permanently despite keen interest from some Serie A clubs.
Instead, the Partenopeans have decided to extend his contract till 2027, as his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Both parties have already agreed on terms, and what remains is for Folorunsho to put pen to paper to seal the deal.
However, after signing, Napoli Magazine reports that he will still not remain in Naples this season. This is because Napoli have reached an agreement with Hellas Verona for the Roma-born midfielder to join on loan this season.
Since joining Napoli in 2019, Folorunsho has not played a competitive game for the club. Instead, he has gone on loan deals to three different clubs in the last three years.
Folorunsho was born in Italy, to a Nigerian father. As such, so he can play for any of the two countries.
