Report: Osimhen could return for Napoli’s Serie A opener against Frosinone

The Super Eagles goal machine suffered an injury in training, and he could be out of act  uld ion for a while

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen could return to action just in time for Napoli’s Serie A season opener against Frosinone on the 19th of August, Soccernet reports.

The 24-year-old Nigerian goal machine sustained an ankle sprain during one of Napoli’s training sessions on Tuesday, with videos showing that he was in serious pain.

There were fears that the Chelsea and Manchester United-linked striker could be out for a long time. However, that may not be the case, as Osimhen sprained his ankle.

According to Matteo Vitali, an orthopaedic doctor at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Unit of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Osimhen could be fine in 7-10 days. Nonetheless, he also stated that if the case is a little severe, Osimhen could be out of action for up to 25 days.

If the Nigerian striker’s injury is not too serious, he could make it just in time for Napoli’s first Serie A game against Frosinone at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.

Still, Napoli would want to exercise caution because the season is just starting, and patching up Osimhen to play could be counterproductive.
