“One of the best” – Ancelotti reveals Real Madrid’s stance on Napoli striker Osimhen

The Nigerian international is the most valuable player in Italy, and it is only a matter of time before he leaves Naples for pastures green

Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has quashed the rumours surrounding the club’s interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan manager made it clear that Real Madrid was not pursuing the Nigerian striker during this summer’s transfer window.

Osimhen, who solidified his reputation as one of the game’s premier finishers by leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years, claimed the league’s top goalscorer award with an impressive 26 goals, making him the first African to do so.

His remarkable achievements naturally attracted the attention of some of Europe’s wealthiest clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG, who reportedly had a €100 million bid rejected.

Real Madrid’s apparent interest in Osimhen had been fueled by the departure of star forward Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia last month.

However, Ancelotti, as per Fussball, has unequivocally put an end to the speculation, stating, “Osimhen is one of the best strikers in Europe, but to be honest, we never thought of him.”

Ancelotti further elucidated Madrid’s transfer strategy by saying, “We have decided to compensate for the departure of Benzema with the arrival of Bellingham in other ways.”

These comments dispel any lingering doubts about Real Madrid’s intentions in the transfer market this summer.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has started the new season with a bang, notching two goals in Napoli’s away victory against Frosinone on the opening weekend of the campaign.

Reports suggest that the 24-year-old striker is on the verge of extending his contract with SSC Napoli, which currently runs until 2025.
