Chukwueze just joined the Rossoneri this summer, and they expect him to hit the ground running
Retired Italian footballer Antonio Di Gennaro has stated that Super Eagles attacker Samuel Chukwueze has the potential to reach Rafael Leao’s level at AC Milan, Soccernet reports.
Chukwueze joined the former Serie A champions this summer following a good campaign with the Yellow Submarine. The 24-year-old right-winger registered 13 goals and ten assists in 50 appearances for the Spanish club.
Clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Aston Villa were linked with Chukwueze, but he opted for AC Milan instead.
The Super Eagles forward has hit the ground running, scoring his first goal for the club after just three games.
The Rossoneri are looking to have a strong campaign after they finished fourth in the Serie A last season, and Chukwueze would be expected to play an important role.
Former Italy international Di Gennaro has high hopes for the Nigerian, and he believes Chukwueze can become a fan favourite like Leao if he reaches his full potential.
“A player like Chukwueze was really missing on the right,” Di Gennaro said per Radio Rossonera.
“Jumping the man at speed in one-on-one situations is essential in today’s football. If he takes advantage of his game immediately, he could be a great player just like Leao.”
AC Milan begin their Serie A campaign on Monday with a tricky fixture at Bologna, and Chukwueze could start in the attack alongside Leao.
The Portuguese star joined the Rossoneri in 2019, and he has quickly grown into one of the deadliest forwards in world football. His pace, physicality, and resourcefulness on the pitch has made him become a fan favourite in Milan.
If Chukwueze can strike a good partnership with Leao upfront, Milan could have the best attack in Italy.
