Champions League: Osimhen to battle Vinicius in Napoli vs Real Madrid cracker; Sanusi’s Porto to play Xavi’s Barcelona

The draws for the UEFA Champions League have been made, and there are some interesting fixtures.

The draws for the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League season took place in Monaco on Thursday, and there are some interesting fixtures to look forward to, Soccernet reports.

Eight Nigerian players will be in the competition this year. Napoli star Victor Osimhen is the biggest Nigerian name in the competition, and his side was given quite an interesting group.

Napoli was drawn in Group C, alongside 14-time champions Real Madrid, Braga, and Union Berlin. Osimhen would be expected to deliver for the Partenopeans when they meet a star-studded Madrid side that has arguably the best midfield in the world. Napoli reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season, and they would be expected to reach that far this season.

Meanwhile, Chidera Ejuke and Alhassan Yusuf, who play for Antwerp, were drawn in Group H, where they will play Barcelona, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Porto, who also have Nigeria defender Zaidu Sanusi.

In Group D, Umar Sadiq and his Real Sociedad side were pitched against Salzburg, Inter Milan, and Benfica, while Peter Olayinka and his Red Star Belgrade club were placed in Group G in Leipzig, Manchester City, and Young Boys.

Then, in Group A, embattled Super Eagles winger Akinkunmi Amoo and his Copenhagen side were pitched against Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Galatasaray.
