Calvin Bassey joined Fulham from Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam last month for £21m on a four-year contract
Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey says he’s looking forward to making his Premier League debut for Fulham after scoring his first goal for the club on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports
Bassey made his debut for the Cottagers in a 2-0 friendly defeat to Chelsea a week ago, before scoring the matchwinner for them in their 2-1 victory over TSG Hoffenheim at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old, who was a product of Leicester City’s youth system, didn’t make an appearance for the club before joining Rangers on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.
Fulham will begin their successive Premier League campaign with a tricky fixture away at Alex Iwobi’s Everton next weekend, looking to improve on their 10th-place finish last season.
Speaking after helping his new club to a friendly victory on Saturday, Bassey said he has a childhood dream of playing in the Premier League and can’t wait for his first taste of action in a week.
I’m buzzing now, it’s every kid’s dream to play in the Premier League, that’s my dream and hopefully I do enough for the manager to put me in the starting lineup and give a good account for, the team, Bassey told FFCtv
Bassey has ten caps for the Super Eagles after making his debut in a 0-0 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification tie with Ghana on 25 March 2022.
