Victor Boniface held the top spot on the Europa League scoring list with six goals
Bayer Leverkusen are making significant strides in their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Union St Gilloise, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romani, negotiations between the two clubs are in an advanced stage, and a deal appears to be on the horizon.
The talented striker has reportedly already reached an agreement on personal terms with Leverkusen, signalling his interest in making a move to the German club.
However, the focus will now be on finalizing the transfer deal to lure him to Bay Arena, which is said to be worth more than €20 million.
Recall that the Nigerian played against Xabi Alonso’s team in the UEFA Europa League and impressed the former Liverpool player with his performance, earning praise from him.
Although he was asked prior to whether he would put everything on the line to sign him, he grinned and could only describe him as a terrific player and a serious threat to the defence of his side.
However, Boniface’s potential move to Leverkusen has generated excitement and anticipation among German fans, as the 22-year-old striker has displayed immense promise during his time with Union St Gilloise, and against them.
If the deal materializes, Leverkusen will be adding an exciting attacking option to their squad, bolstering their offensive firepower.
