Union SG to break bank for free-scoring Nigerian striker to replace Bayer Leverkusen’s Boniface

The Belgian top-flight campaigners have made a huge profit from the sale of the former Bodo/Glimt ace and want another Nigerian as his replacement

Union Saint Gilloise, following the departure of Victor Boniface to Bayer Leverkusen, are on the hunt for a new attacking force to bolster their squad, and they have their eyes set on Akor Adams, Soccernet.ng reports.

Last summer, Union SG splashed a club record 2 million euros to secure the services of Victor Boniface from Norway.

However, just a year later, they cashed in on him, selling him to Leverkusen for a whopping €20 million, the largest transfer fee the club has ever received in its history.

Now, Union SG are eager to replicate that successful operation and is looking towards Norway once again, where Akor Adams, another Nigerian talent, has been making headlines.

Adams has been impressing with his performances at Lillestrøm SK, managing to score an impressive 15 goals and provide two assists in just 15 games.

Reports from Dhnet indicate that Union’s management has identified Adams as the ideal replacement for Boniface and is working diligently behind the scenes to strike a deal soon.

At 23 years old and standing tall at 1.90 meters, Adams currently remains under contract with Lilleström (Norwegian D1) until December 2024.

Adams’ value is estimated to be around €4 million (Transfermarkt).

If Union SG decide to pursue Adams and agree to pay the estimated market value, he would become the most expensive signing in the club’s history, surpassing the €2 million they spent on Boniface just last year.
