Tottenham’s not-so-shocking rejection: Chelsea-linked Osimhen turns down Daniel Levy’s offer

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly made a move to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, Soccernet.ng reports.

Kane is entering the final year of his contract and could leave the London club.

With Bayern Munich showing strong interest in signing the Englishman this summer, Levy is preparing for a potential departure by seeking a suitable replacement.

According to transfer market expert Christian Falk (via Caughtoffside) Levy approached Osimhen regarding a move to Tottenham.

However, the Nigerian international turned down the offer from Levy.

Osimhen’s decision comes as no surprise, given his exceptional performance as one of the top strikers in Europe.

Last season, he scored an impressive 31 goals and provided five assists for Napoli, playing a vital role in their triumphant Scudetto win after more than three decades.

While Napoli are eager to hold onto their star striker, rumours persist linking Osimhen with potential moves to other clubs.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the Super Eagles forward.

Regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Osimhen, Falk highlighted Levy’s failed attempt, stating, “One reason why Daniel Levy is taking such a strong stance here (about Harry Kane) is because he tried to bring in Victor Osimhen and was told ‘no’. Osimhen, I think, has the same idea (as Kane) about winning titles and doesn’t see there being a high chance of that at Tottenham.”

Osimhen has expressed his desire to feature in the UEFA Champions League once again after Napoli’s quarterfinal run last season.

The former Lille lad remains open to staying at Napoli if his preferred clubs fail to meet the demanding transfer fee set by Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

With Tottenham not participating in the Champions League next season, it seems Osimhen’s aspirations for European success have influenced his decision to reject Tottenham’s approach.
