Official: former Super Eagles star joins Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee SC

Former Lazio and Nigeria midfielder Ogenyi Onazi will play in Hong Kong for the first time in his career after signing for Kitchee SC 

Former Nigerian and Trabzonspor midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has moved to Hong Kong to play for Kitchee SC, Soccernet.ng reports

The 30-year-old is joining the Hong Kong Premier League champions with a lot of experience in professional football, having played for Italian club Lazio and Turkish side Trabzonspor earlier in his career.

He also played for Al Aldah in Saudi Arabia, following spells with Zalgiris and Denizlispor.

Onazi was announced among the new players brought in by Kitchee SC ahead of the new season.

While announcing the former Super Eagles midfielder on their Instagram account, the club wrote

Kitchee are proud to announce the signing of Nigerian International Ogenyi Onazi. Onazi, 30, is a central midfielder who helped Nigeria to win the 2012 African Cup of Nations. He was also named in Nigeria’s final squad for the 2014 and 2018 World Cup. The Nigerian club career is also worth to mention as he spent most of his professional career with Serie A giant Lazio and 7th Turkish Super Lig title Trabzonspor. The talented midfielder also had a spell with Al-Adalah in Saudi Arabia.

The former Lazio midfielder played a significant part in helping Nigeria win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
