Norwegian club’s masterstroke: Bodø/Glimt to profit off Victor Boniface’s move from USG to Leverkusen

Victor Boniface’s transfer from Union Saint-Gilloise to German Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen is on the brink of making Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt significantly wealthier, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface arrived at Bodø/Glimt in March 2019 after being signed from the Real Sapphire Academy in Nigeria.

Spending just over three seasons with the club, Boniface made his move to Union Saint-Gilloise last summer for a fee of €2 million.

However, Bodø/Glimt demonstrated shrewd foresight by including a ten percent sell-on clause in the deal when they let Boniface go.

As a result, they are now poised to profit handsomely from the young Nigerian talent’s impending transfer.

Having enjoyed an impressive year in Belgium, Boniface is now on the verge of a massive €20 million move to Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Bodø Nu, Glimt is entitled to an additional €2 million as part of the resale clause, which translates to ten percent of the transfer fee.

Reports indicate that Boniface has already arrived in Germany to undergo medical checkups before finalising a five-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 22-year-old striker was the joint-top scorer in the Europa League last season, netting six goals during the campaign. Interestingly, one of those goals came against Bayer Leverkusen, the very club he is now set to join.

As Boniface prepares to embark on his Bundesliga journey, expectations are high, and many hope he can have a similar impact as Nigerian compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi did for Union Berlin before moving to the Premier League last summer.
