Birmingham want Super Eagles striker who spent two years at Manchester City

Maja’s contract at Bordeaux just expired, and he may be on his way back to England

English Championship club Birmingham City are interested in signing Super Eagles striker Josh Maja who is currently a free agent, Soccernet reports.

Maja had a great campaign with Bordeaux last season, scoring 17 goals in 40 appearances. However, his goals could not help Les Girondins gain promotion to the Ligue 1.

Following Bordeaux’s failure to gain promotion, Maja left the club as his contract had expired. His stay at Bordeaux could have been extended by a year if they had gained promotion, but he was free to leave at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old striker is now a free agent, and there are talks that he could return to England. According to Sport Witness, Birmingham City want to sign Maja this summer.

However, the Nigerian has also been heavily linked with former Scottish champions Ranger, but the deal has not materialized yet.

It could be tough for Birmingham City to acquire him because they cannot provide him with top-tier football.

Maja spent some of his early years at the  Manchester City Academy before leaving for Sunderland Academy.
