Villarreal have expressed their willingness to let Samuel Chukwueze leave the club this summer, provided the right offer comes their way, Soccernet.ng reports.
Fernando Roig Negueroles, a member of Villarreal’s board of directors and son of the club’s president, has made it clear that they would not stand in Chukwueze’s way if a suitable opportunity arises.
Several prominent clubs, including English powerhouses Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Italian giants AC Milan, have shown interest in acquiring Chukwueze’s services.
However, AC Milan appears to be at the forefront of the race for his signature, with reports suggesting they have already held discussions with the player’s representatives.
Chukwueze, valued at 25 million euros, has proven his worth on the field, having scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for Villarreal this season.
Despite his impressive performances, Fernando Roig Negueroles emphasized that the club would not impede the winger’s aspirations of joining one of Europe’s top sides.
Speaking to AS (as per Milan News), Roig Negueroles described Chukwueze as an “extraordinary boy” whose desire is to compete for a big club in Europe or the Premier League.
However, Roig Negueroles also mentioned that they would need to assess the offers from all parties involved, as no concrete proposals have been received thus far.
“Samuel Chukwueze is an extraordinary boy who has been with us for many years,” Roig said.
“It is true that he hopes to play for a big club in Europe or the Premier League, and if that option arises, we’ll sit down and negotiate.
“But it will be necessary to see if there will be any advantageous offers for the three parties. No offers have arrived yet, and Samuel still has one year left on his contract.
“What we are clear on is that if a good proposal doesn’t come along, he will continue with us.”
Chukwueze, who joined Villarreal in 2018 as a teenager after helping Nigeria secure victory in the FIFA U17 World Cup, has attracted attention with his impressive performances and potential.
The Super Eagles winger has only one year left on his contract with the Yellow Submarines.
