Olisemah switched clubs three times in four years, and that cost him three league titles
Nigerian midfielder Cyril Olisema and his Akwa United side failed to qualify for the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six after they finished fourth in the regular season. But a closer look at Olisema’s story may give the impression that he is jinxed.
According to NPFL News, Enyimba won the just concluded league season and Olisema could have easily been part of their party train as he was part of the team last season, but he decided to move to Akwa United last year.
Akwa United were league champions in the 2020/21 season, but Olisema was at Enyimba at the time, as they finished second.
Then in the 2018/2019 season when Enyimba won the league, the 28-year-old attacking midfielder spent the season at Akwa United who finished fourth in the NPFL playoffs.
Soccernet reports that Olisema was a regular for Akwa United in the just concluded season. He registered six goals in 13 league appearances.
