The Drogba Lever: Chelsea’s secret strategy to beat Man United to Napoli’s Osimhen revealed

The Nigeria international is on the radar of many of Europe’s biggest clubs and the drama surrounding his transfer is expected to make the top headlines in the summer

Chelsea have reportedly come up with a secret strategy to beat Manchester United, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the race to sign Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

According to the London Evening Standard (via TN), Chelsea plan to use the Nigerian’s love for Didier Drogba, a former Chelsea striker, as a lever to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Osimhen is considered one of the most exciting young talents in European football and has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. Manchester United have long been interested in the Nigerian striker, but Chelsea are now seen as their main rival.

The Londoners plan to make a “maxi offer” to Napoli to secure Osimhen’s signature. Still, they are also hoping that the emotional attachment the player has to Didier Drogba will give them an edge in the race for his signature.

Didier Drogba is a Chelsea legend and a fan favourite, having won several titles with the club during his time at Stamford Bridge. Osimhen grew up idolizing the Ivorian striker and has previously spoken of his admiration for him.

Osimhen’s injury update

Meanwhile, Osimhen is currently nursing an injury, which could keep him out of action for some time.

According to the Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the striker suffered a muscle injury while on international duty with Nigeria and could miss the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Milan.

Despite his injury troubles, Osimhen remains one of the hottest prospects in European football, and several top clubs are vying for his signature.

And Chelsea’s plans to use Drogba as a secret weapon to lure him to Stamford Bridge could prove to be a masterstroke in what promises to be a closely contested race for his signature.
