Official: Ndidi and Iheanacho will no longer be coached by Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City

The Foxes have endured a tough time during the 2022/2023 season, and it has led to the exit of the Northern Irishman

Leicester City have announced the sacking of Brendan Rodgers as the club’s First Team Manager following a poor run of results that has seen the team slip into the relegation zone.

The decision comes after four years in charge, during which Rodgers led the club to its first-ever FA Cup triumph in 2021 and consecutive European campaigns.

The decision was made after performances and results in this season failed to meet the expectations of the club’s board. Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha expressed his gratitude to Rodgers for his contributions to the club’s success but acknowledged the need for a change in management to secure the club’s position in the Premier League.

The club’s immediate responsibility for Men’s First Team training and match preparation will be led by First Team Coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell. Leicester City’s two Nigerian stars, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, will be crucial in the club’s bid to avoid relegation.

Ndidi has been a key player for Leicester City since joining the club in 2017. Until the campaign, the defensive midfielder was ever-present in the team, establishing himself as one of the best in his position in the Premier League. Iheanacho, on the other hand, has had a resurgence in form this season, scoring important goals for the club.

The two Nigerian internationals will have a vital role to play in the remaining ten games of the season as Leicester City look to secure their Premier League status. The club sits in the relegation zone, a point adrift of safety.

Leicester City will hope that the change in management will provide a much-needed boost to the team’s performance as they prepare for their next game against Aston Villa on April 4.
