Kings of Serie A! Osimhen helps Napoli cement supremacy over Juventus

Osimhen was explosive when Napoli destroyed Juventus in the first leg, and he had another great performance when both teams clashed on Sunday

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen helped Napoli to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Juventus at the Alianz Stadium Soccernet.ng reports

Napoli were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in midweek after a 1-1 draw against AC Milan. Osimhen scored the Partenopeans’ solitary goal but it was not enough because Napoli had a one-goal deficit from the first leg.

Nonetheless, they were looking to put that behind them when they played Juventus. Napoli thrashed Juventus 5-1 in the first leg in Naples. Osimhen scored twice and registered one assist in that tie. But the second leg in Turin was expected to be a tougher contest, and it was.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, and Osimhen was well-checked. However, the former Lille man found more joy in the second half. Because of his reputation, Juventus defenders were always on their toes marking him. Osimhen came very close to scoring in the 69th minute, but his blocked shot went wide, resulting in a corner.

Osimhen showed his prowess in the air, as he jumped highest to meet the corner and sent a strong header to Szczesny, but it lacked placement.

The Super Eagles star was close to scoring a few more times, but he just lacked the cutting edge.

Eventually, Giacomo Raspadori became the hero of the night, as he scored a brilliant volley to ensure that Napoli won the tie 1-0.

The victory ensures that Napoli are 17 points above second-placed Lazio. They can win their first Serie A in 33 years if they defeat Salernitana in their next game at the Diego Maradona Stadium. However, they would also need Lazio to drop points away at Inter next weekend for that to happen.
