Don’t join them – Drogba warns Osimhen against signing for 2020 Champions League finalists

The Nigerian international is guaranteed to have a long queue of suitors in the summer after enjoying a spectacular campaign in Italy

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has urged Napoli striker Victor Osimhen not to consider joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.

The former Ivory Coast captain stated that while PSG is a big club, it is not the right fit for Osimhen’s continued progress.

Several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, are reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian forward.

2020 UEFA Champions League finalists, PSG are also reportedly among the frontrunners for Osimhen’s signature.

However, Drogba warned Osimhen to avoid PSG, despite their endless wealth and impressive trophy haul over the years, including ten league titles and one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1996.

“If he (Osimhen) is really in the sights of a club like PSG,” the Chelsea legend tells Canal Plus as per United in Focus.

“It shows the full extent of his talent and the season he is having.

“But PSG is not the club he needs to continue his progress.”

Drogba’s comments came after Osimhen scored his 26th goal of the season during Napoli’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash against AC Milan on Tuesday. Although Osimhen’s goal proved to be only a consolation as Milan won the tie to progress to the semi-finals for the first time since 2007.

Drogba, who won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea, is regarded as one of the most iconic strikers of the 21st century.

His advice to Osimhen not to consider PSG, therefore, holds weight, given his vast experience at the highest level of the game.
