Agent reveals why Super Eagles star’s proposed move to the Italian Serie A failed to materialise

The Nigerian defender attracted interest from at least one Italian top-flight club during the winter transfer window, but nothing came of it

The agent of Olisa Ndah, Mike Makaab, has shed light on why the Super Eagles star’s reported move to the Italian Serie A failed.

Ndah, currently on the payroll of Orlando Pirates in South Africa, was linked with a move to Sassuolo in January.

It would be recalled that Soccernet.ng reported that Sassuolo had identified Ndah as a new target for their defense and had initiated contacts for his purchase.

However, the deal did not go through due to an injury Ndah sustained simultaneously with Sassuolo’s interest.

Ndah’s agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed Sassuolo’s interest in the player, but he noted the deal could not be concluded due to physical issues.

During an interview FARPost (via Sassuolo News), Makaab stated, “There was an initial interest in Olisa Ndah, then he suffered an injury at the same time as the interest from Italy, and the deal didn’t end (well).”

Despite missing out on the opportunity to move to the Italian Serie A, Ndah remains focused on helping Orlando Pirates win the South African Premier Soccer League title and cementing his place as one of the best defenders in the league.

Ndah, who moved to South Africa after he won the Nigerian league title with Akwa United, has displayed brilliance in the country’s Premier Soccer League.

Thanks to the 25-year-old centre-back’s pace, physicality, and defensive skills, he has become an integral part of Orlando Pirates, one of the PSL’s biggest clubs.
