Osimhen has been spectacular for Napoli this season, and a former Italy international has been impressed
Ex-Italy striker Beppe Savoldi believes Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is an extraordinary striker and is the most important part of Napoli’s attack.
Super Eagles striker Osimhen has been superb for Serie A high-flyers Napoli this season. The 24-year-old goal-poacher looks like he has finally come into his own after two average seasons at Naples.
Osimhen has scored 21 goals for the Partenopeans, registering 21 goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
His goals have helped Napoli to maintain their spot at the summit of Serie A and the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
“Napoli have two different offensive solutions, Savoldi, who was Serie A top scorer in the 1972/73 season told Napoli Magazine.
“One is the verticalization towards the Nigerian, a real gazelle; the other concerns set pieces, in which perhaps I could have had my say”.
“He’s an extraordinary footballer, ready for anything. He just lacks the expertise to control the ball with his back to the goal, to make the team go up. He will improve in this too, I am sure.”
With Osimhen leading their attack, the Partenopeans look set for their first Scudetto title in over 30 years. His brilliant plays have caught the eyes of some top clubs like PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
If Napoli win the Serie A this season, Osimhen could leave the club. However, it would be for a huge fee.
