“They should be fined” – Former AC Milan manager reacts to Lookman and Højlund’s performance after Lazio win

Lookman has performed well for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, scoring 12 goals overall and providing 4 assists in 21 games for the Blue-Blacks.

Former AC Milan Manager, Arrigo Sacchi, has saluted Ademola Lookman and Rasmus Højlund under Gian Piero Gasperini following their victory against Lazio.

For their outstanding performance in the 2-nil victory at the Stadio Olimpico, the former AC Milan boss made light of the duo receiving a fine.

The Super Eagles forward could not add to his 12 goals in the Serie A campaign this season, but his performance for the Nerruzzi in Rome was felt.

In the 21st minute, Atalanta’s 25-year-old had a chance to put his team on the board, but Lazio’s Ivan Provedel parried the ball against the crossbar with a fast reaction.

However, two minutes later, Davide Zappacosta gave the visitors the lead with an incredible strike into the upper right corner.

After controlling a cross from Lookman, the Danish international finally increased Atalanta’s advantage by putting the ball in the back of the goal from close range 20 minutes into the second half.

Following this, the Serie A champion from 1987 to 1988 praised Atalanta’s manager for making the squad stronger ahead of the 2022–23 season.

“Gasperini is a great coach. He had noticed that the team needed something different, he signed young players who were almost unknown and taught his lesson,” according to Sacchi, speaking to Gazzetta.

The Super Eagles winger has 12 goals so far this year and had a significant role in Hjlund Atalanta’s second goal’s setup.

For Gasperini’s team, the tandem has already contributed 17 goals to the season total. In response, Sacchi jokingly suggested that the pair should be fined.

“They should be fined,” joked Sacchi. “They played four against Lazio, but they were only two.” He said.

The 76-year-old added: “Gasp has transmitted enthusiasm, a spirit of sacrifice and clear tactical principles. Atalanta have always been competitive at a European level in the last few seasons keeping the books balanced.”

With 41 points, Atalanta is tied for third position with fourth-place AS Roma and fifth-place AC Milan after moving up from sixth.
