Southampton have sacked two managers this season and they have employed another as they look to preserve their Premier League status
English Premier League club Southampton, employers of Nigerian internationals Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu have appointed Ruben Selles as their new coach.
Aribo joined Southampton last summer while Onuachu joined in January. However, it has been a torrid stay for them since they got to the club.
The Saints have been the worst side in the Premier League this season. They sit bottom with just 18 points after 23 games.
Because of their poor turn of results, Southampton have let go of two coaches this season – Ralph Hassenhutttl and Nathan Jones.
The Saints have been without a permanent coach since Jones was sacked on February 12. Ruben Selles stepped in as interim manager afterward, and he guided the team to a big win against Chelsea in his first game.
Southampton have announced that Selles will take over the job permanently till the end of the season.
“Southampton Football Club can today confirm that Rubén Sellés has been appointed as Men’s First Team Manager until the end of the 2022/23 season,” Southampton posted on their website.
Onuachu has played one game under the Spanish tactician while Aribo is yet to feature. They would hope that results would start going their way.
