Transfer Saga! Two club presidents lock horns for Terem Moffi’s signature

Terem Moffi’s impressive performance, scoring 12 goals in 18 Ligue 1 match appearances in 2022-23 season campaign has sparked interest from several clubs

Two Ligue 1 club presidents are reportedly battling for the signature of red-hot Nigerian striker, Terem Moffi.

According to reports, Marseille president, Pablo Longoria, and Nice sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, are going head-to-head to secure the signature of the 23-year-old striker.

The Nigerian goal machine has piqued the interest of many football clubs due to his impressive performance for Liorent FC.

More than last season, the striker has hit 12 in 18 domestic league appearances for The Merlucciidaes, which makes him just 1 goal behind Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, who has 13.

The goal poacher’s outstanding performance in recent days has, however, sparked a battle among three clubs which includes England’s West Ham United, OGC Nice, and Olympique de Marseille, for his signature.

According to Ryan Taylor, the Marseille president took a trip to Brittany to convince the Super Eagles forward to pen a deal with the Marseille, who are currently 3rd in the Ligue 1 standings.

“More detail on the crazy Terem Moffi saga. Marseille president Pablo Longoria was in Brittany on Tuesday (since left) to try & convince the Nigerian striker to sign. Also understand Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has flown to Lorient for face-to-face talks to try close deal.” he wrote via his Twitter feed.

The striker’s love for the French weather cannot be separated yet, and would snub going to England and extend his stay in the French league.

However, more reports suggest that Moffi is more interested in moving to Allianz Riviera. But, Taylor revealed that Marseille and Nice would have to battle for his signature.

“This is going to continue throughout the night. West Ham offered £25m (£20m plus £5m in add-ons), but Marseille & Nice are now going head-to-head for his signature,” he added.

Liorent secured the striker’s signature in 2020 for €8.00m, and it would be the best time to cash in on their profit for the striker when all teams are strongly interested in signing him.
