Paul Onuachu’s shirt sale breaks new Pro League charity donation record

Onuachu, who has scored 70 goals in 99 matches for the Genks, is ranked third in the record-breaking shirt sales for solidarity campaign.

Paul Onuachu’s jersey was among those that broke the Pro League record for charity jersey sales.

The Pro League’s Friday announcement of the results of the Christmas campaign revealed this.

The attacker’s shirt was among the jersey overall to initiate the wave of jersey sales in the fourteenth iteration of the campaign.

The fourteenth edition smashed records with 155,000 euros raised, which is 3,000 more than the previous year.

Three-time winner of the Belgian First Division, Simon Mignolet, made Club Brugge’s jersey stand out by selling the most shirts and raising 3,700 euros. Followed by those of Wouter Vrancken’s men, Mike Trésor who’s jersey had 2,900 euros sale, and Onuachu with 2,850 euros.

The Nigerian attacker’s standout performance surely made news in Belgium and in the wider football world, however, it also attracted the attention of all teams eager to sign him.

The prolific Nigerian scorer has 13 goals to his credit in 15 league games for his side, which has made him more popular in the league.

The 28-year-old, however, holds the top spot on the scoring chart with 13 goals, two more than Oud-Heverlee Leuven’s Mario González, who has 11 goals.

To generate money for Christmas contributions, the player wearing jersey number 18 has, nevertheless, seen his jersey rank third via the campaign.
