Leeds United eye 26-year-old Super Eagles star

The West Yorkshire-based club are long-time admirers of the Nigeria international defender, and their wish could come true in the next transfer window

Leeds United are interested in signing Nigerian full-back Ola Aina, who presently plays for Italian Serie A side Torino.

Aina has been with Torino since 2018, having joined initially on loan from Chelsea before signing a permanent contract a year later.

That deal expires in the summer of 2023, but negotiations for a contract extension are going on between Torino and Aina.

According to Tuttosport (via TMW), the Granata would like to extend Aina’s stay in Turin, but there is no breakthrough yet in talks between the two parties.

Aina would be free to begin transfer talks with another club in January, and the Super Eagles star’s preference remains the English Premier League.

A Chelsea academy product, Aina has already made 34 EPL appearances, scoring two goals and making one assist in the colours of the Blues and Fulham.

Leeds United are keen to bring the 26-year-old back to England and are watching developments in Torino with interest.

Aina, though, is believed to be undecided about his next move.

The Nigeria international has featured in 93 Serie A matches, with two goals and five assists to his name.
