FIFA names Oliseh, and Nkwocha to feature in 2022 FIFA Legends Cup in Qatar

Nkwocha scored 80 goals internationally, whereas Oliseh appeared in 63 international games and scored three goals for Nigeria.

Two legendary players from Nigerian football, Sunday Oliseh and Perpetua Nkwocha, have been listed in the squad for the Qatar 2022 FIFA Legends Cup.

On Friday, December 16, 2022, a mini-competition will take place to honour the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Legends of the game of football who excelled in their careers will compete in the mini-contest.

An additional former Super Eagles great, Aiyegbeni Yakubu, will join Oliseh, an AFCON gold medallist, and Nkwocha, a multiple Women’s AFCON champion and four-time African Footballer of the Year, in the 13-player African team.

Legendary Senegalese players El-Hadji Diouf, Khalilou Fadiga, and Demba Ba are all included for the “African Lions,” along with three more legends who played for Chelsea: Geremi Njitap (Cameroon), Michael Essien (Ghana), and Didier Drogba (Cote d’Ivoire).

Didier Drogba’s Ivorian teammate, Yaya Toure, will also compete for the African Lions, alongside goalkeepers Robert Kidiaba and Thomas Nkono in the team.

Former Cameroonian star, who played for the Indomitable Lioness, Gaelle Enganamouit, is the youngest player on the team and, along with Nkwocha, the only female on the African squad.

According to FIFA’s newly released schedule, the Northern Bears will meet the African Lions in the tournament’s first game at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Qatar.

The East Tigers and Arab Falcons are also members of the pride of African Lions. In a round robin style, all teams will compete against one another.
